LBCA contracts with the County to do spraying when necessary during the 2007 summer. The decision to spray one or two nights or at all that week is based on the number of mosquitoes trapped in a given amount of time. The County does the trapping and counting. The County has been very responsive to our questions and responds quickly to problems.

I know that some feel we didn’t get sprayed enough last year but the county must follow certain guidelines for spraying.  The weather is a large factor as they cannot spray if it’s too windy, rainy, to hot or the air quality is code orange,  etc.  Also the truck cannot spray if someone is walking on the street.   Our spray nights will be Thursdays and if needed Mondays. If you are outside when you hear the spray truck coming you may want to go inside for 15-30 minutes.

If you do not want the area in front of your home to be sprayed please contact me immediately. This year if you live within 100 feet of open water your area may not be sprayed depending on wind direction. Also please inform me if you keep a honeybee hive.  Some hints to reduce mosquitoes.

Leave your name, address and phone number if you do not want to be sprayed or you have a honeybee hive!
